WORK > Brown-Skinned Ballerinas

In earlier work, there was a focus on using the trajectory of line to depict and uplift Black dance. This work is embodied in the series, “Brown-Skinned Ballerinas”, a term that was coined by Marian Cuyjet, a highly skilled dancer and dance educator. The work in this series marries expressive writing with pictures. Earlier work in the series employed varied oil painting techniques, primarily dried oil pigment on papers; while later work shows a mixture of media like ink pen, watercolor, and colored pencil, usually on bristol.
